Wills and Estate Planning

At GETHA CONSULTING, we help clients put the right planning in place so their wishes are clearly recorded, their loved ones are considered, and their affairs are easier to deal with when the time comes.

Wills and estate planning are not only about what happens after death. They are also about creating clarity, reducing uncertainty, and making practical decisions now that can protect the people and assets that matter most to you.

Many people know they need a Will, but delay putting one in place because the process feels uncomfortable or confusing. Others may already have a Will, but have not reviewed it for years and are no longer sure whether it still reflects their current wishes, family circumstances, or financial position. Our role is to help make that process simpler, clearer, and more manageable.

Why Wills and Estate Planning Matter

A Will is one of the most important documents a person can put in place. In South Africa, a will generally needs to comply with formal requirements to be valid, including being in writing and being signed with two competent witnesses present at the same time.

If a person dies without a valid will, their estate is distributed according to the rules of intestate succession rather than their personal wishes.

Estate planning goes further than the drafting of a Will. I

t is about considering how your assets are structured, who should inherit, who should administer your estate, and whether your family will have enough clarity and support to deal with matters efficiently.

A properly considered estate plan can help reduce confusion, avoid unnecessary disputes, and make the administration process more straightforward for those left behind.

Our Process

We aim to make the Wills and Estate planning process as clear, straightforward, and manageable as possible. Our approach is designed to help you understand each stage and move forward with confidence.

  • 1. Understanding

We begin by taking the time to understand your personal circumstances, family situation, assets, and overall wishes. This helps us identify your planning needs and any important matters that should be considered from the outset.

    2. Planning & reviewing

We review your current arrangements and discuss the key decisions that need to be made. This may include how you would like your estate to be dealt with, who should be appointed in important roles, and whether any broader estate planning considerations should be addressed.

  • 3. Drafting & Refining

Once your instructions are clear, we prepare the necessary documentation based on your wishes. You then have the opportunity to review everything carefully, ask questions, and request any changes needed before the documents are finalised.

    4. Finalising & Guiding You Forward

Once the documents are ready, we guide you through the final steps, including signing requirements and practical next steps. We also explain the importance of reviewing your Will and estate plan over time as your circumstances change.

  • 5. Ongoing Support

One all documents have been finalised, we will retain a copy and you can update your Will, whenever you wish. Upon your passing, we will reach out to your family to proceed with your wishes.

ITS More Than Just a Will

Many clients initially think they only need a simple Will, but estate planning usually involves a broader discussion.

It may include looking at your family structure, your assets, your business interests, your life cover, your beneficiaries, and the practical consequences of the decisions you make now.

Our approach is to help you look at the bigger picture. We want to help ensure that your wishes are recorded properly, that your planning is practical, and that your estate arrangements support the people you intend to protect.

    Why Choose GETHA CONSULTING

    UNDERSTANDING

We understand that Wills and estate planning are deeply personal matters. Clients want more than a generic document. They want guidance they can understand, support that feels practical, and a process that gives them confidence that their wishes are being taken seriously.

    thorough

A thoughtful estate plan can also help you consider practical questions in advance, such as who should inherit particular assets, how dependants should be provided for, who should administer the estate, and whether the people close to you will have the information and structure they need when it matters most.

    SUPPORTIVE

We take a client-focused approach, communicate clearly, and help clients think through the practical issues that often get overlooked. Our goal is to help you put a proper plan in place with greater clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
